Exhibition stand design and build is a challenging area. It is vital to understand the focus of the event in question in order to design, produce and install relevant materials. Often, these need to have the potential for reuse elsewhere in order to optimise budgets and impact.
International HVAC specialists Carrier were invited to attend as supplier partners at the recent CBRE facilities management supplier partner event in London. They wanted to make the best use of a small exhibition space to present the company in a professional light.
Developing the exhibition stand message
Smart Printing Company had the idea to use a simple and direct message for the exhibition stand design. This was to be used later in the year at other partner events. Working together, the two companies decided on the key message and looked at the options for display materials.
Earlier work carried out to redesign sales and information collateral provided the guidelines for the look and feel of the exhibition stand.
Using wide format graphics capabilities
Smart Printing Company proposed a Flexi style stand mechanism, which gave Carrier the flexibility to extend or accessorise the stand if needed for future exhibitions. This was printed at Smart Printing Company using the company’s wide format graphics capabilities.
The stand design was clean and simple, promoting the message ‘Sustainable Solution Driving Carbon Neutrality’ whilst keeping within the Corporate Guidelines. Design and artwork were then produced and approved for the portable 2m x 3m stand. This included a lighting package to lift the message and impact.
In line with sustainability requirements, Smart Printing Company sourced and reupholstered two used stools using the Carrier blue corporate colour. A ‘poseur’ style meeting table was also sourced and supplied, which featured a Carrier logo on the tabletop.
In support of the exhibition, Smart Printing Companyalso produced designs and artwork for a ‘Visit us on stand exhibition’ advertisement. This was in keeping with the overall look and style.
Overcoming the logistics challenges
The company was also tasked with arranging stand shipment, onsite build and dismantling. The event was scheduled to take place at Old Billingsgate Market in London. This Victorian building was originally Billingsgate Fish Market, the world’s largest fish market in the 19th century.
It is also located on a Red Route clearway, where vehicles are not allowed to stop at any time, 24/7, presenting significant logistic challenges.
Because of the logistical challenges presented by the event, Smart Printing Company worked with CBRE’s exhibition managers to ensure the delivery of all materials to a local warehouse. They were then consolidated with other deliveries for the event and delivered to the site on the evening before the exhibition.
Issues were further complicated by the decision to cancel and reschedule the event at the last moment due to train strikes making travel and access difficult for attendees.
Set up and dismantling services
Carrier also wanted to have the exhibition materials prepared and set up for their personnel to arrive on the stand on the morning of the event. Smart Printing Company arranged for a technician to attend the evening before to set up the materials in readiness for the exhibition opening at 9 the following morning.
This same technician then dismantled the stand when the exhibition closed and packed up the materials. These were left as arranged for the third-party carrier to remove them back to the storage warehouse in line with the tight delivery restrictions on the red route location.
A successful event
Everything ran smoothly and the materials are now in storage at Smart Printing Company, awaiting the next event on the Carrier calendar.
